Worth keeping making from-scratch salad dressings.
If you’ve been here awhile, you already know this. I have found a way to make a lot of my go-to store-bought salad dressing at home and usually make them a little healthier. This Thousand Island Dressing is not only unfussy, but also satisfying and a fraction of the calories. Typically, for 2 tablespoons of this dressing, it’s around 140 calories and usually contains necessary ingredients and preservatives. This method consists of 6 ingredients, takes less than minutes to make and is only 68 calories for 3 tablespoons. 😳 Needless to say, this is my go-to thousand island dressing!
To cook this From-scratch Thousand Island Dressing Set out:
- mayonnaise – I certainly LOVE Chosen Foods mayo made with avocado oil. (not sponsored)
- full-fat greek yogurt – I like to use Oikos plain full-fat yogurt (with 25 grams protein). (not sponsored)
- ketchup – Can use kitchen-made, store-bought or sugar-free ketchup.
- onion – Use yellow or white onion.
- dill pickles & juice – I prefer Claussen pickles. (not sponsored)
- sugar – Lends a touch of sweetness.
In a medium bowl, measure and add 1/4 cup of both mayonnaise and plain full-fat greek yogurt.
Pour in 1/2 cup of ketchup.
And add in 1/3 cup of both finely diced dill pickles and yellow or white onion and 1 teaspoon sugar.
Stir well to combine.
Lastly, thin out with 2 to 4 tablespoons of the dill pickle juice or until it reaches a desired consistency.
Mix to combine.
Store in a container with a tight-fitting lid and refrigerate for up to 7 days.
