Seasoning Salt (sugar free), All-Purpose Style

If I could suggest one seasoning that should be in every kitchen, it would be this all-purpose seasoning salt.

Similar to Lawry’s (simply without any additives), this kitchen-made version is great in so many things. A regular here it tossed with potatoes before roasting, it’s a speedy way to season panko for breading onion rings or onion rings and it’s satisfying mixed with oil, garlic and herbs and then brushed onto chicken.

The list goes on.

What spices are in All-Purpose Seasoning Salt?

  • fine sea salt
  • paprika
  • turmeric
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • cayenne

My original recipe calls for sugar. I have since cut the sugar out completely and I don’t miss it one bit.

There’s no right or wrong brand. I will first say, buy what you can afford. However, not all spices are created equal as you tend to get what you pay for. Currently I use Morton & Bassett (not sponsored) because I find their spices to be top notch in texture, color and flavor. Worth keeping and respect what their company stands for not only with charitable work but also quality control. With that said some other pleasing brands I’ve used over the years are Simple Organic, Frontier Co-op and Penzys.

In a glass jar or container that has a tight fitting lid, measure and add: 1/4 cup fine salt. Fine sea salt is a must! It’s similar in size as the spices so it will blend easily and can easily be shaken out of spice lids.

Next, add 2 tablespoons paprika, 1-1/2 teaspoons turmeric, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper.

Stir…

Until thoroughly combined.

Keep stored in an air-tight container for 6 months or longer!
